Open Gold Duke of Edinburgh Expedition

This course is for DofE Gold participants who have already completed the expedition training & a 2 day, 2 night practice expedition.

Day 1: You will arrive from 4pm for dinner and will then spend the evening route planning and preparing for your qualifying expedition. 

Day 2-5: You will take part in a 4 day, 3 night qualifying expedition. On the final day of your qualifying, you will participate in a debrief with your assessor and give a presentation with your team, ready to leave by 5pm. 

The expedition will be fully accessible to cater for each team member's needs and will most likely be a mixture of walking/pushing on wheelchair accessible routes & canoeing in rafted canoes.

You will be staying within our main Lodge accommodation with the option (and encouragement!) of camping in our grounds whilst on expedition. The price includes all food, accommodation and all technical equipment used on expedition. If the cost is a barrier to you booking, please get in touch with Paula and Sarah to discuss the possibility of sponsorship.  

For anyone wishing to travel by train, we can arrange for pick up and drop off at our nearest station, Oxenholme Lake District, which is a 15 minute drive away. Please let us know if this is something you are considering.
