DofE Silver or Gold Training & Practice Expedition

DofE Silver or Gold Training and Practice Expedition

Join us to complete your Silver or Gold DofE Training & Practice Expedition.

Day 1: You will arrive at Bendrigg from 4pm for dinner and then go through the expedition training framework including sessions on first aid, health and safety, navigation and cooking on stoves. Please see the following document for more info: Expedition-Training-Framework.pdf (dofe.org)

Day 2: You will continue with the expedition training whilst also going for a walk and a canoe in our local area. You will start your 2 day, 2 night practice expedition on return to Bendrigg.

Day 3-4: You will continue your practice expedition. At the end of day 4, you will receive feedback from your expedition supervisor which will help you prepare for your qualifying expedition. You will depart at 5pm.

The expedition will be fully accessible to cater for each team member's needs and will most likely be a mixture of walking/pushing on wheelchair accessible routes & canoeing in rafted canoes.

You will be staying within our main Lodge accommodation with the option (and encouragement!) of camping in our grounds whilst on expedition. Our accessible accommodation has aids such as ceiling mounted tracking hoists, shower beds, wet rooms and profile beds. Here is a link to our virtual tour: Bendrigg Trust (360imagery.co.uk)

The price includes all food and accommodation throughout your stay. We also have lots of expedition kit for you to borrow whilst on expedition. If the cost is a barrier to you attending, please contact Paula or Sarah to discuss the possibility of sponsorship.

For anyone wishing to travel by train, we can arrange for pick up and drop off at our nearest station, Oxenholme Lake District, which is a 15 minute drive away. Please let us know if this is something you are considering.

If you have any queries, please don't hesitate to contact Liz on 01539 723 766 or via email: activities@bendrigg.org.uk.
